Gustavo Modiano (1864-1916) started a printing business in Milan in the 1890s, producing illustrated postcards, books and posters. According to the old Metro site he was noted for his propaganda images during the First World War, I haven’t seen these as postcards.
After his death the firm was carried on by his wife and his son Guido Modiano who moved into more up-market periodicals and graphics.
Most cards are views, all cards seem to be named and not that many actually have the logo, which shows a hand mulling ink.
There doesn’t seem to be any link to Saul D. Modiano of Trieste (see the SDM logo).
