Braun & Cie, Braun, Clément et Cie: Paris
Braun & Cie developed from a photographic business founded by Adolphe Braun in Mulhouse in 1847. It produced large numbers of stereoscopic and panoramic photos but by the postcard age largely specialised in producing reproductions of artworks. This may explain why the logo of the Paris Salon occurs on this photographic card of flamimgos. The B logo doesn’t occur on earlier cards. Card 15166 evidently was part of a tear-off booklet. These cards have intense velvety shadow areas.
There are more details about Braun & Cie in the French Wikipedia. Adolphe’s son Gaston Braun ran several companies, including Adolphe Braun et Cie. In 1889, with Louis Pierson and Léon Clément the company took the name Braun, Clément et Cie; and in 1910 the name became Braun et Cie. It produced art prints including postcards.
